EBA XBRL Converter – How Conversion Works
The EBA XBRL Converter supports taxonomy-aligned transformation of reporting data into XBRL outputs by locking the correct framework version, mapping concepts and dimensions, generating XBRL files, and supporting validation and reconciliation workflows.
What it does
The EBA XBRL Converter transforms structured regulatory reporting data into EBA taxonomy-aligned XBRL outputs for a selected reporting period and template package. It supports controlled taxonomy/version alignment, consistent mapping of concepts and dimensions, and validation-ready output generation.
Inputs required
- Reporting scope selection (period + template package)
- Structured reporting dataset (facts/metrics) with consistent identifiers, units, sign conventions, and decimals
- Dimensional/context mapping inputs (where templates require axes/members)
- Entity/perimeter configuration (e.g., solo vs consolidated where applicable)
- Taxonomy version selection aligned to the reporting period
Outputs
- EBA taxonomy-aligned XBRL output files for the selected template package
- Validation-ready outputs (schema/business-rule aligned) to reduce rejection risk
- Traceable mapping structure to support review, reconciliation, and controlled correction cycles
How it works (steps)
Select reporting scope
Choose the reporting period and the set of templates required for the filing package (based on regime and internal reporting scope).
Align taxonomy and version
Lock the correct EBA taxonomy release for the reporting period to avoid mismatches and invalid tagging.
Prepare and normalize inputs
Structure the input dataset so identifiers, units, signs, decimals, and period cut-offs are consistent before mapping.
Map datapoints to taxonomy concepts
Map each required datapoint to the correct taxonomy concept and ensure mandatory datapoints are populated.
Apply dimensional mapping
Assign the correct axes/members (dimensions) so values land in the correct “cells” for multi-dimensional templates.
Generate XBRL output
Produce XBRL files aligned to the selected taxonomy and template package.
Validate and reconcile
Run schema and business-rule checks and reconcile totals and key figures back to source data to reduce remediation cycles.
Support controlled corrections
If issues are found, regenerate outputs from corrected source inputs with traceable lineage for controlled resubmissions.
How REGREP supports this
REGREP supports EBA XBRL conversion by enabling report selection and taxonomy/version alignment, structuring inputs for consistent mapping, generating taxonomy-aligned XBRL outputs, and supporting validation, reconciliation, and traceable lineage for controlled remediation.
